T’Keya graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2015 with a Bachelors Degree in Biology. After working in healthcare for five years, she continued to pursue her education and received her Master’s Certificate in Secondary Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2019. In her pursuit and passion for improving mental health, she earned her Master's Degree in Social Work at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina in 2024.
As a former educator, T'Keya recognized the need for increased support for youth mental health and sought to empower them to achieve their greatest potential. Her belief that everyone is divinely pieced into life's interconnected web which serves as the foundation of her counseling practices. Understanding individuals' diverse needs, perspectives, and challenges shapes how she supports her clients. She aims to help her clients embrace experiences, overcome barriers and challenges, understand their uniqueness, and proudly express themselves.
T’Keya has gained clinical experience working in private practice and experience leading in therapeutic groups settings. Although her passion started with wanting to help adolescents, she has experience working with individuals of all ages who deal with varying mental health and behavioral needs.T’Keya approaches each client with an open perspective. She uses a variety of therapeutic interventions to ensure that each client meets their desired goal. She is skilled in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing and works to continue to grow her skills professionally. Additionally, T’Keya is currently seeking training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
As a Charlotte native, T’Keya can be found exploring the art scenes around town, spending time with friends and family, participating in a variety of exercise activities, traveling, and reading in her downtime.
T'Keya accepts self pay currently and is being credentialed with Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, Medcost, MHN and Out of Network plans
