Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor

Larry Loughery is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) providing mental health services to Adolescents (13-17), and Adults, Seniors, and Couples. He is an Independent Contractor, not an employee, thus he is individually responsible for all aspects of client care. He is independently insured and manages his own practice. Larry contracts with MACS PLLC for marketing, billing and office space.

Larry earned his Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Winthrop University, where he served a very diverse client base. His clinical experience includes working with individuals impacted by trauma / PTSD, depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, marital /couples issues, and separation anxiety. 

​

Larry’s rich life experience (veteran, blue collar and white collar vocations, a love of multicultural exposure) informs his counseling, while his empathy and openness provide a secure, judgment-free therapy environment.

​

One of Larry’s core beliefs about Counseling is the need to meet the client where he/she/they are, and to build a therapeutic relationship that provides both the impact and direction the client needs to begin moving through and past the issues that are causing distress. Among the solution-oriented treatments he draws from are Traditional talk therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT),  Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and his Gottman Training for Couples Counseling.

 

As a Gottman Trained therapist, Larry offers premarital counseling for couples as well as marital  and relationship counseling services to address issues of communication, relational functioning, lowered intimacy, infidelity and overall diminished functioning within all couple systems.  This model has been provided effective in aiding couples nearing separation and/or divorce to reconnect and strengthen their relationship.

Larry accepts Aetna, BCBS, CBHA, Medcost, MHN, UHC, Out of Network and Self Pay.

His office hours are Monday- Friday by appointment only.
