Celeste Schmidt, LCMHC, LCAS, CCTP
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Clinician & Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist
Celeste Schmidt is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) who works primary with adolescents and adults. She is an Independent Contractor, not an employee, thus she is individually responsible for all apsect of her client's care. She is independently insured and manages her own practice. She contracts with MACS PLLC for marketing, billing, and office space.
Celeste earned her Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts with a major in Psychology and a minor in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2013. She then earned a Master’s of Science in Psychology degree from Kaplan University in 2016. She has additional licensure as a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) from the North Carolina Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board. Celeste has also been credentialed as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) through the International Association of Trauma Professionals and has completed Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) training through an EMDRIA approved Level II provider.
Celeste has experience working with individuals with mood, anxiety, substance use, and personality disorders. She also works with clients who have experienced trauma or diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Celeste has experience working with a variety of populations including adolescents, adults, the youth and adult LGBTQ+ community, individuals involved with the criminal justice system, and individuals seeking DWI treatment and services. She has worked in an inpatient facility, outpatient treatment, admissions, and as a case manager.
Celeste believes every client is different and tailors her approach to meet the client’s individual needs. She is being trained and supervised in Dialectical Behavior Therapy at MACS and works collaboratively with the DBT team. and practices Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR and Person-Centered Therapy. Celeste approaches therapy from a holistic, strength-based, and client centered model. She believes that building a strong therapeutic relationship is crucial to a client’s success. She enjoys working together with clients to assist them in reaching their goals and celebrating their achievements with them.
In her free time Celeste enjoys traveling, hiking, working out, yoga, and reading. She also greatly values family and likes to spend time with her husband, daughter, two cats, and dog.
Her office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday by appointment only.
