Amanda Carson-Wong, PhD
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Amanda Carson-Wong is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PhD) who works primarily with adults, and older adolescents from 15 years of age. She is an Independent Contractor, not an employee, thus she is individually responsible for all aspects of her client's care. She is independently insured and manages her own practice. She contracts with MACS PLLC for marketing, billing, and office space.
Amanda received her Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from Vanderbilt University. She then earned a Master’s degree in Psychology from Columbia University, Teachers College. She then went on to earn a second Master’s degree and finally a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Rutgers University. At Rutgers, Amanda specialized in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Here, she engaged in clinical work and conducted DBT workshops for others learning DBT. She also published and presented research in DBT in national publications and conferences.
Following her time at Rutgers, Amanda completed her internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the VA Boston Healthcare system. Here, she received specialized training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD. She worked with Veterans who had recently returned from combat and specialized in assisting with readjustment issues, treating trauma, and substance use disorders.
Amanda treats individuals with mood disturbance (including depression and bipolar disorder), anxiety, individuals who have experienced trauma, suicidal thought, and self-injury, impulsivity, and borderline personality disorder. She has received specialized training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CPT), Behavioral Activation (BA), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and has received intensive training in DBT. Amanda enjoys developing strong therapeutic relationships with her patients in order to help them reach personal goals. She works to help her patients find a balance of acceptance (of things that cannot be changed) and problem solving (for things that can be changed).
In her free time, Amanda enjoys exploring new places, trying out new restaurants, and reading. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, two kids, and dog.

Her office hours are by appointment only Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
